Benson Park, Hudson, NH

Benson Park is a 166-acre, passive recreational spot open to the general public. Full of rich history, Benson Park was once home to Benson’s Wild Animal Farm, which closed in 1987. Today the park is maintained by the Department of Public Works and includes many hiking trails as well as a dog park.

Our favorite trail is the Haselton Farm Trail because it goes around the perimeter of the park, which is beautiful. This trail starts at the back of the parking lot.

Follow this trail around the park to #13 if you want to see the pond or #15 if you want to complete the Haselton Farm Trail (see trail map). Then follow the concrete pathway up into the old animal park. Here you will find fun novelties to visit such as the Gorilla House, Old Woman’s Shoe, Elephant Barn, and more.

If you want to make your hike longer or harder, take any number of the shorter trails that connect to the Haselton Farm Trail.

This is usually a busy park on nice days but there is lots of room to spread out and several cut off paths you can take if needed. The trails are wider for the most part but do narrow as you get deeper into the woods. There is room to step off the trail if approached by another dog.
