CVNA TEAM DAY: Walk & Social for Dogs and Their People

ABOUT THE EVENT:
This is a special day created just for Cornerstone VNA team members to enjoy fresh air, connect with colleagues, and experience the wellness benefits of time outside with dogs.

We’ll start our adventure at the Little Harbor Loop Trail in Portsmouth, NH. This easy 1.5–2 mile outing offers a beautiful mix of open fields, shady forest paths, and coastal views. We’ll move at a relaxed pace, giving dogs and their people time to explore, settle in, and enjoy being together in a supportive group environment.

At low tide, Sagamore Creek should reveal a wide, open stretch of shoreline where dogs can safely explore, splash, and swim. Please bring a long lead and water shoes so your dog can enjoy the tidal pools, soft shoreline, and coastal smells while staying safe and connected to you.

After our walk, we’ll head to Lago’s Ice Cream in Rye, NH, just a short 5-mile drive from the trail. Lago’s has a grassy outdoor space with picnic tables where we can relax, enjoy ice cream, and continue connecting. Please note: Lago’s is cash only, so be sure to bring cash if you plan to purchase ice cream.

This outing is also a chance to help dogs and people feel more comfortable navigating public spaces together. With the support of Golden Dog, you’ll learn how to create space when needed, recognize what your dog is communicating, and advocate for them with more confidence around other people, dogs, and activity.

What to Expect

• A relaxed 1.5–2 mile trail walk
• Open fields, wooded paths, and coastal views
• Low-tide shoreline exploration at Sagamore Creek
• Opportunities for dogs to splash, sniff, and explore
• Support from Golden Dog in helping you navigate the environment with your dog
• A casual post-walk social at Lago’s Ice Cream

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 2-3. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. These trails can be busy on weekends. They are mostly wide and flat allowing lots of space for dogs who need it. There is also additional room to pull off the trail in many areas and allow other dogs and their handlers to pass. Lago’s has a wide open outside area with picnic tables spread out for private seating. COST: Please register for this event below. Tickets are limited to 15 CVNA team members.

DIRECTIONS/PARKING:
The Little Harbor Trail is located at 400 Little Harbor Road, Portsmouth, NH. Watch for the small sign for the trail and a larger sign that says Creek Farm Reservation. Your GPS may try to take you past the entrance. Once you turn at the Creek Farm Reservation sign, drive almost to the end where you will see an open area and large parking lot. There is also a porta potty at this location.

Lago’s Ice Cream is located at 71 Lafayette Rd., Rye, NH. They have a grassy area with picnic tables.

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and announced in the Event section of the Facebook Group and on this Calendar page. Participants who have registered will also receive a cancellation announcement via email.
