ABOUT THE EVENT:
Delve into the enriching world of scent detection with our “Intro to Nosework” event at the Summer Doggy Olympics! This event offers an introduction to the sport of nosework, where dogs harness their natural sniffing abilities to locate specific odors. Designed for dogs of all experience levels, this competition focuses on enhancing concentration and honing scent detection skills in a fun and thematic setting.

• Themed Scent Challenges: Each nosework challenge is set within a unique theme, making the search for the hidden odor more engaging and exciting. These themes are creatively designed to simulate real-world scenarios, providing both dogs and handlers with a stimulating and immersive experience.
• One-on-One Arena Entry: Dogs will enter the arena individually to ensure they can focus without distractions. This setup allows each participant to fully engage with the environment, using their nose to navigate and locate the target odor.
• Skill Development: This event is perfect for introducing dogs to the basics of nosework. It emphasizes the development of the dog’s natural scenting abilities, encouraging them to trust their nose and make independent decisions based on scent clues.

Nosework is not only a mentally stimulating activity but also a fantastic way for dogs to use their natural abilities in a constructive and enjoyable manner. It’s an excellent exercise for building a dog’s confidence and improving their problem-solving skills. IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 2. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. For this competition, your dog will be participating with a small group (5) of canine athletes in a large open area. If decompression time is needed, there is a separate room you can escape to as well as an exit to behind the building and a grassy area.
