DOGGY OLYMPICS: Urban Pawsathlon Competition

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Step into the bustling cityscape with your canine companion for the Urban Pawsathlon Competition, an integral part of this year’s Doggy Olympics. Taking place in scenic and lively downtown Portsmouth, NH, this event challenges dogs and their handlers to navigate through the city’s vibrant sidewalks, visiting well-known landmarks, and experiencing the urban environment up close.

In Downtown Portsmouth:
Participants will embark on a 45-minute guided walk through Portsmouth, navigating busy streets and interacting with various urban elements. This unique challenge is designed to assess how comfortably dogs can move through crowded areas and how effectively handlers can read and respond to their dogs’ cues. The walk will culminate at the Dog Art Gallery hosted by Kimberly Sarah Photography, where the competition continues but in a different setting.

At the Gallery:
Here, dogs will encounter a specially curated art exhibit designed for canine appreciation. This portion of the event will test their ability to remain calm and composed while interacting with the artworks and other dogs in a quieter, more contained environment. It’s a perfect contrast to the bustling city walk, providing insight into each dog’s adaptability between active and serene settings.

The Urban Pawsathlon is more than just a competition; it’s an opportunity to deepen your understanding of your dog’s behavior in diverse environments. It’s an ideal event for urban dwellers or those looking to expose their dogs to city life in a controlled and supportive setting. IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 3-4. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. For this competition, your dog will be exposed to an urban environment in downtown Portsmouth, NH. There will be lots of distractions and noises competing for their attention. If your dog is not comfortable in this type of busy environment then this may not be a good event for them.
