**This event is only available to official club members and their families.**
ABOUT THE EVENT:
This walk, rescheduled from March 19th due to unfavorable weather, is for official Club members only. Not a member? Learn about membership and join for discounts and savings on adventures, education, products, and services.
For our March members only adventure, we are headed to Fort Foster & Kittery Point Shore Trail in Kittery Point, ME for a hike, picnic, and long leash social on their dog beach to celebrate the beginning of spring.
Fort Foster & Kittery Point Shore Trail is a 1.5 – 2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Kittery, Maine that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round.
Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash between 10:00am – 3:00pm.
There is a dog beach to the right of the pier where dogs can socialize on long lead to give your dog freedom to run and swim. PLEASE NOTE: Fort Foster restricts long leads to 10 ft. or less and allows dogs off leash after 3:00pm. When our event ends, you are free to let your dog off leash if desired.
During the walk, we will stop for a picnic. There is a grassy field with picnic tables. Please bring lunch and a drink for yourself and your dog(s). No glass bottles. Carry in/out only. We will supply dessert for all participants (human and canine)!
IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Dogs must be on leash at this trail. The trail is mostly wide but does get narrower in locations. There are places to step off if we meet an oncoming dog. Depending on the weather, this may be a busy trail. There are also many open areas as well as the open dog beach area. Please remember that you are also welcome to attend without your dog if you feel this would be an uncomfortable setting for them. If you have concerns or questions about if this event is right for your dog, please email woof@goldendognh.com for assistance.
TRAIL RATING:
The Kittery Point Shore Trail is rated as Level 1-1.5 Stroll. See an explanation of our Trail Rating System. The trail is flat but sometimes narrow through the woods. May be wet, muddy, and require crossing short bridges constructed from boards. The ocean trail is a wide, flat, gravel path.
