NATURE WALK: Winter Birding with Nature Education Opportunities
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Join us for a birding adventure to find winter birds, including waterfowl and hopefully Eagles at the beautiful Lake Massabesic Trail System in Auburn, NH. This approximately 3 mile walk will be led by Kelly Dwyer, naturalist and owner of Nature Education Opportunities.
With Thanksgiving behind us and the festivities and demands of the holiday season around the corner, an invigorating and fun nature walk is just what is needed to decompress and catch your breath!
Kelly will lead us on a trek to explore the winter bird activity throughout a variety of habitats within the beautiful Lake Massabesic trail system.
Along the way, we will delve into:
- Fascinating winter adaptations birds undergo to survive our winters
- Birds that migrate to NH for the winter and how to recognize them
- Tips for successful backyard winter bird feeding
- Bald Eagle natural history in this lake habitat and their wintering strategies (at Battery Point, we may be fortunate to see some eagles and late season waterfowl)
Pack your binoculars and leave the holiday to-do list behind for a few hours!
Special treats will be provided as a reward for dogs at each stop. If your dog has allergies, please alert us at email@example.com.
In addition, participants will receive an entry towards our December giveaways (must sign in), which will be drawn on January 3rd @ 3:00pm.
