OFFICIAL CLUB ADVENTURE: Dog’s Choice, Dog’s Voice: A Mindful, Dog-Led Stroll
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Let your dog set the pace—and the plan. This outdoor, small-group adventure takes place at a secret location in Barrington, NH on 75 acres of private land. October’s featured expert, April Begosh—owner of Healthy Pets NH and a canine wellness educator—joins the Golden Dog team to guide you in slowing down, tuning in, and letting your pup’s curiosity shape a relaxed “choose-your-own-journey” walk. Together, we’ll model how to safely say “yes” to more sniffing, exploring, and dog-driven decisions while keeping boundaries, safety, and the environment in mind.
What we’ll do
- Dog-led strolling: Short, scenic loop with frequent pauses for sniffing, investigating, and gentle interaction with natural features.
- Mindful handling in the real world: Practice skills—calm touch, observation, and redirection (when a choice isn’t safe).
- Mini coaching huddles: April and the Golden Dog team will rotate through the group with quick tips tailored to your dog.
- Connection prompts: Simple, reflective cues to help you notice body language, arousal, and relaxation signals.
- Optional “treasure moments”: Low-impact enrichment (e.g., nosework finds, polite “paws up” on a stump) based on your dog’s comfort.
Who it’s for
All dogs and their guardians who want to deepen their bond—whether your pup is a sniffari superstar, a thoughtful stroller, or somewhere in between. Dogs with sensitivities or special needs are welcome too; we’ll support you in maintaining space and creating a comfortable experience for everyone.
Join us for this unique opportunity to experience the world through your dog’s eyes while learning practical skills you can bring into everyday life. You’ll leave with a calmer, more connected pup, new ways to support their well-being, and fresh insight into how to strengthen your bond.
IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 1-2. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. This event is well-suited for dogs who are generally comfortable in outdoor environments but may need extra space. The walk will be fully on-leash, with plenty of room for dogs to spread out and avoid direct interaction if that’s what they need. Handlers should be ready to advocate for their dog’s comfort, and our guides will help maintain a relaxed pace with frequent stopping points to keep stress low. If you have concerns or questions about if this event is right for your dog, please email woof@goldendognh.com for assistance.
TRAIL RATING:
The Trail is rated as Level 1.5 Stroll. See an explanation of our Trail Rating System. The trail we will stroll is mostly flat and wide but does narrow in some places and there will be some uneven terrain since this is private land.
