OFFICIAL CLUB ADVENTURE: Hike & Rescue: Real-Life Training for Your Dog

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Prepare for real-life emergency scenarios with your dog by joining our hands-on Hike & Rescue training session, led by Cindy Ehlers of Pawsitive Pet, at the Jim Hill Riverwalk in Concord, NH. We will hike 2-3 miles depending on the weather and the desire of the dogs to sniff along the trail. At the beach, we will pause for long-lead swimming and then real-life trainings.

This interactive hike and training will help you and your dog practice essential skills like muzzle and booty training, being carried in a rescue harness, crate training, techniques for cooling off your dog in challenging situations, and more.

We’ll also address common behavioral issues, such as fear of unknown people, places, and things. This event offers a valuable opportunity to build your dog’s confidence and calmness, equipping you both to handle stress and unexpected circumstances with ease.

TRAIL RATING:
Jim Hill Riverwalk is rated as Level 1-1.5 Moderate. See an explanation of our Trail Rating System. We will be working on games and activities in a quiet outdoor setting.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 1-2. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. This event is a good one for reactive dogs since this is normally a quiet trail and there is lots of space at the beach where we will do the trainings. ABOUT CINDY EHLERS:
Cindy Ehlers, owner of Pawsitive Pet located in Barrington, NH, has over 30 years of experience in animal care. She is a certified professional rewards-based dog trainer and certified trauma responder.

Cindy provides simple solutions for people struggling with dog behavior problems, and specializes in therapy dog and service dog training. After responding to a high school shooting in 1998 with her therapy dog, she developed a training curriculum for Animal Assisted Crisis Response (AACR) and implemented programs using therapy dogs to support at-risk populations and those in crisis. Today, over 400 certified K9 teams across the nation continue this important work.

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and registered participants will receive a email cancellation notice. It will also be announced in the Event section of the Facebook Community Group and on this Calendar page.
