OFFICIAL CLUB EVENT: Cooperative Care with You and Your Dog Training
ABOUT THE EVENT:
For our next Official Club Event for 2022, we are headed to You and Your Dog Training & Services located in New Boston, NH for a Cooperate Care training exercise with Ashley and Kristine, our featured experts for October.
Are you and your dog prepared for an emergency that may occur while you are out and about enjoying the beautiful trails in New England? Ashley and Kristine will expand upon the skills shared in the Pop Up Talk – Planning for the Oh Crap Moment and take it to the next level. Our focus on emergency preparedness has two parts, 1.) the behavior to prevent emergencies, and 2.) the skills to lesson the stress when emergencies happen.
You will learn:
- an attention game to jump start a reliable recall,
- how to use rewards both from you as the handler and intrinsic ones in the dogs environment,
- to teach the emergency behavior “Out” to your dog encouraging them to willingly let go of a resource,
- the key components of Cooperative Care, with a focus on bucket game and chin rest.
Cooperative Care teaches your dog that they have a choice in how their bodies are handled. This not only lowers their stress but helps them become a willing participant in activities so many dog owners dread like nail trimming and visits to the vet.

ABOUT YOU AND YOUR DOG TRAINING & SERVICES:
You and Your Dog Training & Services is a small training center that focuses on the relationship between people and their dogs. Their approach is not only personal, but is science based using the current research in canine behavior.
They initiate communication with dogs by working with them, not against them, using positive reinforcement. This is done by understanding dog behavior, ethology, and working with the individual dog’s natural desires.
Ashley Clark CPDT-KA and Kristine Thurston CPDT-KA are who make You and Your Dog Training & Services LLC.
