OFFICIAL CLUB EVENT: Trail Fun with Red Pointy Dog Training
ABOUT THE EVENT:
For our next Official Club Event for 2022, we are headed to Adams Point Wildlife Management Area with Jake Belmont of Red Pointy Dog Training, our featured expert for July.
During our Pop Up Talk on July 12th, we discussed training skills to improve your dog’s Trail Manners and keep them having fun on the trail. We will combine fun games with real life training skills all while having fun and bonding with our pups.
If you missed the Pop Up Talk, you will still have the opportunity to learn about trail etiquette, and the easy training games that will lead to safe and happy walks with your pup. If you are someone who is always looking to find new things to get the most out of your time with your dog, this one’s for you.
Things you can expect to learn:
- How to walk by another dog (123)
- Patience while something or someone passes by (Pull Over)
- 2 basic Parkour Behaviors to increase attention and fun (2 & 4 Paws)
- How to get your dog to walk behind you so they aren’t pulling when you are going down hill or crossing puddles (Fall Back)
Bring a long lead. There will be an opportunity for dogs to swim at the end of the event.
Visit the Golden Dog Adventure Co. table to check in. If you attend 6 Official Club Adventures in 2022, you will earn a Club t-shirt.
This trail is rated as Level 1-1.5. The paths are wide and flat for most of the trail. There will be a section that is narrow with some inclines and rocky. Review our Trail Rating System for more info.

ABOUT JAKE BELMONT:
Jake Belmont, Co-owner of Red Pointy Dog Training, has been around dogs his entire life. Jake is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and loves training and teaching dogs to do all kinds of things. His love of the outdoors has sparked a special interest in him and you can almost always find Jake teaching dogs trail etiquette and manners, or how to jump on boulders and maneuver fun woodland obstacles.
Jake started his career with dogs working at a dog daycare where he learned all about body language and canine communication. This experience provided him with a unique look into how dogs behave and why they do the things they do. He then started a dog walking business which allowed him to create closer relationships with the dogs in his care and as a result, he found himself wanting to help these dogs behave better and feel better too!
As a certified dog trainer Jake believes in building behaviors using methods that are fun both for the dog and the parent. When training the family dog incorporates things such as play, choice, engagement, and skill building, everyone benefits!
Jake shares his home with the red pointy dogs, Manzo and Piper, and Louise- the other half of Red Pointy Dog training. When he isn’t working with pups you can find him playing his guitar, hiking in the woods, or anything else that can get him outside.
Adams Point WMA is located at 85 Adams Point Rd., Durham, NH. Drive to the end of the road where the laboratory is located. We will be parked in this lot if not full. Otherwise, we will park in the lot before the end. You will see our car.
