ONLINE EVENT: Your Dog’s Gut—Why It Matters More Than You Think
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Your dog’s gut does more than digest food—it plays a key role in overall health, immune function, and even behavior.
In this month’s Ask the Veterinarian, Dr. Lisa Boyer, of Animal Health Consultants, explores the microbiome—the community of bacteria living in your dog’s digestive system—and why it’s one of the most important (and often overlooked) pieces of the wellness puzzle.
Building on April’s nutrition discussion, this session looks at how what you feed your dog directly impacts how their body functions from the inside out.
What we’ll cover:
- What the microbiome is and why it matters
- How to reset your dog’s gut if dysbiosis occurs
- How gut health affects digestion, immunity, and inflammation
- The connection between the gut and the brain (and behavior)
- Signs your dog’s gut may be out of balance
- The role of probiotics and supplements—what’s helpful and what to be cautious of
- How everyday feeding choices influence gut health
A deeper understanding of your dog’s gut can change the way you approach their care—this session will show you how.
