PACK ADVENTURE: Date Night With the Dog in Portsmouth

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Our weekday Pack Adventures are designed for smaller groups, making them ideal for dogs who appreciate a little extra space when socializing on the trail.

Looking for the perfect midweek reset? Join us in Portsmouth and Rye, NH for Date Night With the Dog, a laid-back summer evening designed for couples, companions, and canine sidekicks. This two-for-one adventure lets you bring your partner, friend, or family member at no extra cost—because good times are even better when shared. From a scenic stroll and dog swim at Little Harbor Loop to a relaxed social at The Ice House, this outing blends nature, community, and just the right amount of summer magic.

We’ll start our adventure at the Little Harbor Loop Trail in Portsmouth, NH. This easy 1.5–2 mile trail takes us through open fields, shady forest paths, and stunning coastal views. Even better? Low tide hits at 5:45pm, revealing a wide, open stretch of Sagamore Creek where dogs can play and swim. Bring a long lead and water shoes so your pup can safely explore the tidal pools and soft shoreline.

After our walk and water fun, we’ll head to The Ice House in nearby Rye, NH, where we will grab a bite and/or a sweet treat and enjoy a relaxing picnic on the grassy, dog-friendly lawn. Whether you’re in the mood for dinner, ice cream or both, it’s the perfect way to wind down with fellow members at the end of a workday and celebrate summer.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 2-3. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. These trails are usually not very busy during the week. They are mostly wide and flat allowing lots of space for dogs who need it. There is also additional room to pull off the trail in many areas and allow other dogs and their handlers to pass. The Ice House has a wide open outside area with picnic tables spread out for private seating. COST: Tickets are limited to 15 couples. Scroll down to purchase. Highly recommend arriving in the same car to help with parking.

DIRECTIONS/PARKING:
The Little Harbor Trail is located at 400 Little Harbor Road, Portsmouth, NH. Watch for the small sign for the trail and a larger sign that says Creek Farm Reservation. Your GPS may try to take you past the entrance. Once you turn at the Creek Farm Reservation sign, drive almost to the end where you will see an open area and large parking lot. There is also a porta potty at this location.

The Ice House is located at 112 Wentworth Rd, Rye, NH. They have a grassy area out back with picnic tables.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE JOINING AN EVENT:

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and announced in the Event section of the Facebook Group and on this Calendar page. Participants who have registered will also receive a cancellation announcement via email.
