PACK ADVENTURE: Hike at Oaklands Town Forest
***PLEASE NOTE LOCATION HAS CHANGED FOR THIS EVENT. CHECK YOUR EMAIL CONFIRMATION FROM 5/11.***
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Pack Adventures are hiking events that happen during the week. They attract a smaller group of people which is perfect for dogs that need some additional space in a group.
For this adventure, we will hike approximately 3 miles and follow the Deer Trees Connector, Stonewall, Quantas Queue, Father Knows Best, and Bog Trail Loop at the Oaklands Town Forest in Newfields, NH.
This large unfragmented block of deciduous and conifer forests is important for wildlife diversity, quality habitat and movement corridors. This makes it an excellent spot for viewing wildlife including beavers, deer, coyote, fox, rodents, reptiles, amphibians and many bird species. The land is characterized by numerous boulder and ledge outcrops, hummocky terrain, and a number of vernal pools and wetlands. Forestry management is guided by a long term forest management plan which includes occasional selective harvesting.
The trail is rated a 1-1.5. The trails are mostly flat with some steeper rock outcroppings and narrow areas; 200 foot elevation gain.
Tickets are limited to 15 people. Scroll down to purchase.
