PACK ADVENTURE: Walk at Kittery Point Shore Trail and Beach

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Our weekday Pack Adventures are designed for smaller groups, making them ideal for dogs who appreciate a little extra space when socializing on the trail.

Join us as we explore the scenic Fort Foster & Kittery Point Shore Trail in Kittery, Maine. This 2.1-mile, moderately trafficked loop features a beautiful blend of forest paths and coastal views, perfect for all skill levels. Popular for walking, nature trips, and bird watching, this trail is accessible year-round.

During this time of year, dogs are welcome to be off-leash after 3:00 PM. We will likely encounter other off-leash dogs, and participants with dogs that have reliable recall are welcome to allow their pups off leash during the adventure. We’ll also visit the dog-friendly beach to the right of the pier, where dogs can enjoy playtime in the sand and surf. If your dog isn’t fully off-leash reliable, you’re encouraged to bring a long lead to give them safe freedom to run and swim.

We’ll take time to relax with a picnic near the beach at the available picnic tables. Bring your dinner or favorite snacks to enjoy by the water—please remember that glass bottles are not permitted.

With low tide at 2:11 PM, we’ll have a window for beach play followed by a peaceful meal while soaking in the coastal scenery.

This adventure is a great way to kick off Memorial Day weekend, celebrating with your pup and fellow dog lovers in a relaxed, beautiful setting.

Please Note: If your dog is not responding to recall cues or is causing discomfort to other dogs, our team will ask you to leash your dog to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 3-4. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. Dogs are allowed off leash after 3:00pm and we welcome guests to have their dogs off leash if they have reliable recall. Because of this, your dog may not feel comfortable in this environment. The trail is mostly wide but does get narrower in locations. There are places to step off if we meet an oncoming dog. Depending on the weather, this may be a busy trail. There are also many open areas as well as the open dog beach area. Please remember that you are also welcome to attend without your dog if you feel this would be an uncomfortable setting for them. TRAIL RATING:
The Kittery Point Shore Trail is rated as Level 1-1.5 Moderate. See an explanation of our Trail Rating System. The trail is flat but sometimes narrow through the woods. May be wet, muddy, and require crossing short bridges constructed from boards. The ocean trail is a wide, flat, gravel path.

Full refund issued if cancellation received 48 hours prior to event start time, otherwise no refund if canceled after. 

DIRECTIONS/PARKING:
51 Pocahontas Rd, Kittery Point, ME. If the gates are open, drive in about 300 yards and park at the lot on the left. You will see our car. If the gates are closed, we will be parked as close to the gatehouse as possible. There is no fee to park or enter before May 24th during the week.

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and announced in the Event section of the Facebook Group and on this Calendar page. Participants who have registered will also receive a cancellation announcement via email.
