PACK ADVENTURE: Walk at Kittery Point Shore Trail and Beach

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Pack Adventures are hiking events that happen during the week. They attract a smaller group of people which is perfect for dogs that need some additional space in a group.

Fort Foster & Kittery Point Shore Trail is a 2.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Kittery, Maine that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round.

Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash before 3:00pm.

There is a dog beach to the right of the pier where participants can let their recall trained dogs off leash for play in the off season. You can also use a long lead to give your dog freedom to run and swim. High tide is at 4:07 pm.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Dogs must be on leash at this trail before 3:00pm. The trail is mostly wide but does get narrower in locations. There are places to step off if we meet an oncoming dog. Depending on the weather, this may be a busy trail. There are also many open areas as well as the open dog beach area. Please remember that you are also welcome to attend without your dog if you feel this would be an uncomfortable setting for them. TRAIL RATING:
The Kittery Point Shore Trail is rated as Level 1-1.5 Moderate. See an explanation of our Trail Rating System. The trail is flat but sometimes narrow through the woods. May be wet, muddy, and require crossing short bridges constructed from boards. The ocean trail is a wide, flat, gravel path.

Full refund issued if cancellation received 48 hours prior to event start time, otherwise no refund if canceled after. 

DIRECTIONS/PARKING:
51 Pocahontas Rd, Kittery Point, ME. If the gates are open, drive in about 300 yards and park at the lot on the left. You will see our car. If the gates are closed, we will be parked as close to the gatehouse as possible. There is no fee to park or enter in the off season.

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and announced in the Event section of the Facebook Group and on this Calendar page. Participants who have registered will also receive a cancellation announcement via email.
