COMMUNITY EVENT: Paws & Purpose – A Fundraiser for Pet Peace of Mind

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Join us for Paws & Purpose, a special afternoon of dog-friendly fun and community connection to benefit Cornerstone VNA’s (CVNA) Pet Peace of Mind® program, one of Golden Dog Adventure Co.’s charitable partners.

Bring your dog and your friends for a lively outdoor event filled with enrichment activities, food, and opportunities to learn more about the vital support this program provides to the pets of hospice patients.

WHAT TO EXPECT: (Partners and activities subject to change – watch for additional vendors coming soon!)

Enrichment and Activities

• Sensory Explorers experience by Barrington Barks & Behavior — a unique way for your dog to engage all their senses.
• Golden Dog Adventure Co. will bring mental and physical enrichment equipment from their Playground, plus splash pools for pups to cool off and play.
• A bobbing game for dogs with kickin’ glass, a company who will also be selling hand-crafted, original, whimsical pet scenes made with sea glass and recycled glass with pen & ink.
• Dog pawprint tattoos for kids and adults with Diane Morgan who will be selling 603 dog hats and knit caps as well as dog-themed resin nightlights.
• Intention Getter will be making custom hand-stamped bracelets, necklaces, and keychains on the spot, and hosting a $1 dog treat guessing game where the winner takes home either the jar of treats or an intention piece.
• Meet with Jody Crotty, Animal Communicator, for a unique opportunity to connect more deeply with your pet.
• K9 Kaos will be serving up free pet treat samples and sharing details about their daycare, grooming, training, and retail services. Try your luck at the prize wheel for a chance to win, and treat your pup to a refreshing pup cup for a suggested donation to Pet Peace of Mind.
• Foster’s Fancy Fabrics will feature adorable, handmade pet bandanas—plus a playful ball pit where your pup can sniff out hidden treats. Shop unique accessories and let your dog join in the fun!

Dog-Themed Crafts

• Creative activities hosted by Pet Supplies Plus – Somersworth.
• Meet CVNA volunteers and engage in different Arts and crafts activities with your dog.

Demos

Meet Mason, a black American Labrador Retriever and the Portsmouth Police Department’s first Comfort Dog, with his handler, Detective Rochelle Jones. They’ll be demonstrating Scent Work, where dogs use their noses to find hidden scents, and showing off some of Mason’s tricks as an AKC Trick Dog Novice.

Food/Drink

• Chef Ken Payette will be on site with delicious offerings for human guests, including smash burgers, smoked brisket, smoked pulled pork, pulled pork tacos, smoked ribs, Italian sausages (sweet), hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, water and soda.
• Joey’s Dog House will be serving gourmet hot dogs with side fixin’s like baked beans, mac n’ cheese, and potato salad.
• Maeve’s Mobile Cocktail Hour will be selling delicious mocktails for dogs and humans.

Raffles and More

• Enter to win exciting prizes while supporting the Pet Peace of Mind program.

Meet the Team

• Talk with Cornerstone VNA staff to learn how you can support the program through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading the word.

This is a free event, but registration is required so we can plan accordingly. All dogs must remain leashed, and all attendees will be asked to sign a waiver which will be included with your registration email confirmation.

Come enjoy a meaningful afternoon that celebrates the bond between people and their pets while supporting a program that helps keep that bond strong during a hospice patient’s end-of-life journey.

This event is rain or shine.

COST:
There is no cost to attend this event but registration is required (see below). We do welcome a donation with ticket reservation – 100% of proceeds benefit the Pet Peace of Mind Program. Additional information, including safety instructions and logistics, will be emailed to registered guests 24 hours prior to the event.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE JOINING AN EVENT:
For safety reasons, we do not permit retractable leashes or aversive training tools at our events. Before attending this event, please review our Club Guidelines and sign our Liability Waivers & Release Forms.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 3-4. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. This event is moderately stimulating and may be suitable for some reactive dogs, depending on their comfort level. It will take place in an open outdoor setting with on-leash requirements, spaced-out activity stations, and room to create distance. Expect excitement, barking, and movement around enrichment areas and splash pools. Early arrival is recommended for a quieter experience. Guardians should bring high-value treats, calming aids, and have an exit plan. Dogs who are highly reactive or easily overwhelmed may be more comfortable sitting this one out.
