ABOUT THE EVENT:
This adventure is for Golden Dog Club members only. Not a member? Learn about membership and join for discounts and savings on adventures, education, products, and services.

Members, join us for a fun evening at Short Sands Beach in York, ME. We will explore the beach, tidepool, and let the dogs play on long lead in the water and socialize. Bring a picnic supper and your beach blanket. No glass bottles.

After, we will take a novel walk into town to watch taffy being made, visit the York fire station for biscuits and water, and then drive to Dunnes Ice Cream for refreshments. Finally, we will walk down and across the street to the Nubble Lighthouse from Dunnes to watch the sunset. Low tide is at 5:34pm and sunset is at 8:22pm.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 3-4. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. The beach this time of year can be very busy with dogs and irresponsible dog handlers. Your dog should be OK with other dogs and people in closer proximity as well as the energy and zoomies dogs will exhibit when playing at the beach. COST: Please register for this event below. You may also register other family members when you sign up who will be arriving in the same car with you.

• Members – N/C* – there is a $4/hour cost to park at the beach
• *Food and beverages are not included in the event and will be available for purchase separately.

Members, if you register and cannot attend, please cancel within 24 hours to avoid a cancellation fee of $25/person. 

DIRECTIONS/PARKING:
Short Sands is located at 14 Ocean Ave., York, ME. The parking lot is on the right after the grassy park with the gazebo. We will be parked near the front of the lot facing the ocean and near the bath house. Please note parking kiosks are $4.00/hour.

Dunnes Ice Cream is located at 214 Nubble Rd., York, ME. If their lot is full, drive past the main lot and down the hill a short way to the secondary lot on the right.

The Nubble Lighthouse is located at 11 Sohier Park Rd., York, ME.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE JOINING AN EVENT:

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and announced in the Event section of the Facebook Group and on this Calendar page.
