POP UP ADVENTURE: Calm Handling Practice at Burley Farms

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Burley Farms in Epping, NH is a Golden Dog club favorite, and we’re heading back for a focused adventure that combines natural object parkour, canine fitness, calm handling, and real-world observation skills.

During this Pop Up Adventure, we’ll hike the red and green trails for approximately 1.5 miles, using the natural features of the property to support confidence, body awareness, thoughtful movement, and calm decision-making on the trail.

Along the way, we’ll work through our calm handling 5-step protocol:

1. Pause and observe
2. Pull over and let dogs pass
3. Practice threshold distance
4. Watch body language
5. End on success

Burley Farms offers 238 acres of fields, forests, wetlands, and open space, making it an ideal location to practice relaxation, observation, and thoughtful handling in a controlled outdoor environment.

After the hike, we’ll gather at Cow Palace Creamery in Epping, NH, for a relaxed and sweet social to celebrate the holiday weekend in their large open grassy area. This will give dogs and humans more time to settle, observe, and connect in a low-pressure setting.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 1-2. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. Burley Farms is typically a quieter hiking area with wider trails, good visibility, and room to create distance when needed, making it a good option for many reactive dogs. Because this is a summer adventure, please keep in mind that trails may be a bit busier, vegetation may limit some step-off areas, and heat, bugs, wildlife, or farm activity may add extra distractions. COST: Please register for this event below. Limited to 10 dogs/handling teams. Because this is a training reinforcement adventure, registration is priced per dog and includes up to two handlers so both can participate in the learning experience. We recommend no more than 1 dog/handler for maximum happiness.

• Golden Dog Members – $25/dog (up to 2 people arriving in the same car – Your special pricing will be reflected in the CART.)
• Not-yet-members – $35/dog (up to 2 people arriving in the same car)
• Purchase a 10-walk punch card and get this event at a discount (good for Pack Adventures, and Pop Up Adventures)

Full refund issued if cancellation received 24 hours prior to event start time, otherwise no refund if canceled after. This allows time for guests on our waitlist to join the fun.
