POP UP ADVENTURE: Senior Stroll and Social

ABOUT THE EVENT:
This walk is part of a series of walks that “pop up” on the calendar throughout the year. It gives members the opportunity to get out more and enjoy fresh air and friends.

Pickering Ponds Trails in Rochester is a Club favorite. No matter what your dog’s age or ability, these trails are perfect. Join us for a relaxing afternoon stroll as we enjoy the spring flowers popping out all around while we walk the grassy, wide trails around the pond bursting with new life.

There are several different options for walking, including a shorter walk around the pond (approximately 3/4 – 1 mile), a longer walk around both ponds (approx. 1.5 miles) or an extended walk which loops along the Cocheco River and has a slight downhill and uphill for the full 2+ miles. We will lead participants on the longer walk, but there are many spots to leave the trail if your dog becomes tired.

If you love a senior dog, dog with limited mobility, or dog that needs additional space, this is a perfect adventure for you.

After, join us for a gathering and sweet treat in the dog friendly outside area at Lone Oaks which is about a 13 minute drive.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
These trails are usually not very busy. They are wide and flat allowing lots of space for dogs who need it. There is also additional room to pull off the trail in many areas and allow other dogs and their handlers to pass. Lone Oak has picnic tables and areas to spread out at their dog friendly seating area. DIRECTIONS/PARKING:
Pickering ponds is located at 374 Pickering Road, Rochester, NH. The opening to the Trail parking lot is located across from the house that sits at this address. Parking is along a short road that leads to the entry.

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and announced in the Event section of the Facebook Group and on this Calendar page.
