POP UP TALK: Trail Etiquette & Manners with Red Pointy Dog Training
ABOUT THE EVENT:
This event will take place in our Zoom Room. You will receive the Zoom Room link and additional details after registering.
Tonight, Traci Bisson, owner and founder of Golden Dog Adventure Co., talks with Jake Belmont of Red Pointy Dog Training who will discuss what trail etiquette and good manners are for dogs when hiking with their owners.
We all love hiking with our dogs, but the trail can sometimes be a scary place. You are often confronted with things like horses, mountain bikers, off leash dogs, trails that look closed, and more! If you have ever been hiking with your dog and unsure of what to do in certain situations, join us for this Pop Up Talk.
During this discussion, Jake will review simple training cues that will help with common training situations on trails. We will talk about troubleshooting difficult situations and common problems that arise. You will leave with training ideas to keep your dogs having fun and staying safe.
Things you can expect to learn:
- How to walk by another dog (123)
- Patience while something or someone passes by (Pull Over)
- 2 basic Parkour Behaviors to increase attention and fun (2 & 4 Paws)
- How to get your dog to walk behind you so they aren’t pulling when you are going down hill or crossing puddles (Fall Back)
These teachings will be put into practice at the Official Club Event on July 17th.

ABOUT JAKE BELMONT:
Jake Belmont, Co-owner of Red Pointy Dog Training, has been around dogs his entire life. Jake is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and loves training and teaching dogs to do all kinds of things. His love of the outdoors has sparked a special interest in him and you can almost always find Jake teaching dogs trail etiquette and manners, or how to jump on boulders and maneuver fun woodland obstacles.
Jake started his career with dogs working at a dog daycare where he learned all about body language and canine communication. This experience provided him with a unique look into how dogs behave and why they do the things they do. He then started a dog walking business which allowed him to create closer relationships with the dogs in his care and as a result, he found himself wanting to help these dogs behave better and feel better too!
As a certified dog trainer Jake believes in building behaviors using methods that are fun both for the dog and the parent. When training the family dog incorporates things such as play, choice, engagement, and skill building, everyone benefits!
Jake shares his home with the red pointy dogs, Manzo and Piper, and Louise- the other half of Red Pointy Dog training. When he isn’t working with pups you can find him playing his guitar, hiking in the woods, or anything else that can get him outside.
