SPECIAL ADVENTURE: Spring Nose Work Workshop with Jake Belmont – session 2

ABOUT THE EVENT:
You want to give your dog activities that challenge their mind—not just another walk around the block.

But many dogs have energy, curiosity, and powerful natural instincts that don’t always get an outlet. When dogs don’t have ways to use their brain, they can become bored, frustrated, or overly energetic.

That’s where nose work comes in.

Dogs experience the world through scent. When they’re given the chance to search, sniff, and solve scent puzzles, it taps into one of their most powerful natural abilities—and they absolutely love it.

Join professional trainer Jake Belmont of Red Pointy Dog Training and Traci Bisson of Golden Dog Adventure Co. for a fun and engaging Spring Nose Work Workshop where dogs will search for hidden scents in creative, seasonal-themed setups around the Golden Dog Playground.

During this 90-minute workshop, dogs will rotate through multiple scent search areas designed to spark curiosity and build confidence while following their natural instincts. Jake will guide each dog-and-handler team step-by-step, making the experience approachable whether your dog is brand new to nose work or already enjoys the sport.

While waiting for their turn to search, participants will have access to the Golden Dog Playground with instruction from Traci, including:

• Confidence-building agility equipment
• Enrichment toys and activities
• Open exploration space for dogs and handlers

This keeps dogs engaged, relaxed, and mentally stimulated throughout the event.

All activities during the workshop are on-leash to ensure a safe, focused learning environment for every participant.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Yes. This workshop can be a great option for reactive dogs because all activities are on-leash, there is plenty of space to spread out, and dogs work one at a time during scent searches. While waiting, dogs can stay engaged with confidence-building equipment and enrichment activities at the Golden Dog Playground, helping provide both mental stimulation and relaxation.  If you have concerns or questions about if this event is right for your dog, please email woof@goldendognh.com for assistance.

ABOUT JAKE BELMONT:
Jake has been working with dogs for his entire professional career with 9 years of training experience.

He started working in the dog world at 17, washing crates and spraying down the play yards at The Yellow Dog’s Barn. From there, he started working with the dogs in the yards before opening his own dog walking business. In 2018, Jake joined forces with his now wife, Louise, to form Red Pointy Dog Training.

Jake is a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, a Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer with a special interest in making trails and walks fun and safe for all dogs and their humans.

The Golden Dog Playground is located in Barrington, NH. Directions and logistics will be emailed to guests 24 hours prior to the event.

CANCELLATIONS:
If weather or covid conditions make gathering and walking unsafe, the event will be cancelled and registered participants will receive a email cancellation notice. It will also be announced in the Event section of the Facebook Group and on this Calendar page.
