SPECIAL EVENT: Intro to Skijoring
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Skijoring, which translates to ski driving in Norwegian, is a combination of cross-country skiing and dog sledding. Your dog is outfitted with a dog sledding harness, which is attached by rope or towline to a skijoring harness worn by you.
For this event, we are partnering with Gunstock Mountain Resort for an introductory lesson to this fun and unique sport. Participants will be shown how the sport works, which includes an equipment demonstration, and then have the opportunity to try with assistance on a figure 8 course groomed for this activity. After, enjoy practicing on their groomed trails for the rest of the afternoon.
We are offering a 1-hour session at 11:00am. The session is limited to 12 participants (person and dog).
This event includes: 1-hour group lesson, human and canine skijoring equipment, and pass to use trails for the afternoon.
Having your own ski equipment is recommended. No metal tipped skis please for the safety of the dogs. Gunstock offers equipment rentals at an additional charge. Additional equipment needed for this adventure includes XC country skis (or snowshoes if preferred), poles, and boots ($26 to rent from Gunstock).
If you would like to join this adventure but do not have equipment, register for the event, then email woof@goldendognh.com to let us know you will be renting and what your boot size is. We will reserve the equipment for you.
