COMMUNITY EVENT: Trip to Dog Mountain
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Golden Dog Adventure Company invites our community of dog lovers to join us for a special day at Dog Mountain, a breathtaking 150-acre mountaintop haven in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. We will hike the scenic trails, explore the Stephen Huneck Gallery, and visit the beloved Dog Chapel to honor and remember our furry family members who have passed, including our own Dakota, whose anniversary of passing is September 29, 2024.
This unique outing offers a chance to connect with others, reflect, and celebrate the joy dogs bring into our lives.
About Dog Mountain
Dog Mountain is unlike any place in the world. Once the home of artist Stephen Huneck and his wife Gwen, it now welcomes visitors from all over as a sanctuary where dogs are not just welcome—they are cherished. The property features miles of hiking trails, dog ponds, meadows full of wildflowers, and the world-famous Dog Chapel, opened in 2000 as “a place where people can celebrate the spiritual bond they have with their dogs.” Managed today by the non-profit Friends of Dog Mountain, it remains a treasured destination for dog lovers everywhere.

IS THIS EVENT GOOD FOR REACTIVE DOGS?
Reactive Dog Level 3-4. See our Comfort Chart for explanation. This event may be challenging for many reactive dogs. Dog Mountain is an off-leash property where dogs are free to run, play, and interact, which can create unpredictable situations and close encounters. While there is plenty of open space and trails to spread out, guardians should expect dogs to be moving freely in all directions, which may be overwhelming for pups who struggle with reactivity. If you choose to attend with a reactive dog, consider keeping them on a long lead, bringing high-value treats, and planning for quiet breaks away from high-traffic areas. Be prepared with an exit plan if your pup becomes stressed. Dogs who are highly reactive to other dogs or unpredictable off-leash encounters may be more comfortable sitting this one out. Email woof@goldendognh.com with questions—we’re happy to help you decide if this event is right for your pup.
LOCATION:
This event will be held at Dog Mountain located at 143 Parks Road in St. Johnsbury, VT. We will plan to meet at the Dog Chapel at 1:45pm.
