POP UP ADVENTURE: Winter Social @ Over the Moon Farmstead

ABOUT THE EVENT:
This walk is part of a series of walks that “pop up” on the calendar throughout the year. It gives members the opportunity to get out more and enjoy fresh air and friends.

Join us for a slightly different version of our Mutts & Meads events as we welcome Kristine Thurston of You and Your Dog Training & Services for our Winter Social. Depending on snow conditions, we will enjoy sliding and snowshoeing with our dogs (participants must supply their own equipment).

Kristine will help you learn how to introduce sledding and snowshoeing to your dog as a fun winter sport. This event is preceded by our POP UP TALK: Intro to Snow Sports with Your Dog – sledding & snowshoeing on March 1st at 7:00pm with Kristine. You do not need to attend the Pop Up Talk to attend the Winter Social, but it is recommended. 

If there is not enough snow, we will hike the farm and participants are encouraged to bring long leads for allowing their dogs free play when we reach the open fields. Please note that participants must bring their own equipment, including sleds and/or snowshoes. 

After, we will warm up under the heaters on the outside deck at Over the Moon Farmstead in Pittsfield, NH and sample mead. Mead is honey wine. It’s honey and water fermented by yeast, but it can also be flavored with fruits, spices, grains and/or hops. It’s in its own distinct category, somewhere between beer and wine. You sip it like a beer, wine, or cider.

Mead and draft sampling available in flights or by the glass; Amish cheese and cracker plates also available at an additional cost. Hot chocolate will also be available.

TRAIL RATING:
The Old Farm Trail is rated as Level 1.5-2. There is a steep descent to the trail, Yaktrax/snow cleats may be needed. Trails are mostly wide.
