Winter Bird Walk with Nature Education Opportunities

The Massabesic Audubon Center is situated on a point of land known as Battery Point on Lake Massabesic in Auburn, NH. It is a beautiful and serene area to watch for birds. The sun was shining and temps were in the mid to high 30s the day we visited with Kelly Dwyer of Nature Education Opportunities.

Kelly is an award-winning environmental educator and NH certified elementary teacher. She has been creating and delivering engaging programming in New Hampshire, for audiences of all ages, for over 15 years. Watch the video below to hear Kelly’s famous Barred Owl call.

Several times a year, we partner with Kelly to help bring the natural world to our community through education and outreach for both dogs and their people.

Our canine companions enjoyed the sounds, sights and smells as well as a chewie treat to keep them occupied while the humans enjoyed learning about winter birds and their adaptations for our climate.

We were fortunate to see many species, including Eagles, Hawks, Mourning Doves, Nuthatches, Bluebirds, and many others.

We hold our bird walks every May and December. Check our Events & Activities calendar for details.
